Staff of Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas) this morning actively participated in the nationwide National Clean-Up Exercise, reaffirming the Company’s commitment to environmental sanitation and public health.

Employees at the Company’s Headquarters and all operational sites turned out in their numbers to sweep, weed, cut overgrown grass, clear curbs, and desilt drains within and around their operational areas.
The exercise forms part of the National Clean-Up Campaign announced by H.E. President John Dramani Mahama under the theme: “Our Action, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana After the Floods.” The initiative seeks to restore clean and healthy communities while encouraging collective responsibility for environmental protection.
The exercise at the Ghana Gas Head Office was graced by the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon. John Dumelo who joined management and staff in the clean-up exercise.

Ghana Gas remains committed to supporting national initiatives that promote environmental sustainability and calls on all Ghanaians to play their part in keeping our communities clean and safe.

Keeping Ghana Clean: A Shared Responsibility
Efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment in Ghana require the sustained collaboration of government, businesses, communities, and individuals. The goal is to reduce pollution, minimize health risks, and foster a quality of life that reflects national pride and sustainable development.
Strategic Focus
- Enhance waste management systems, including improved collection, transfer, and safe disposal of solid waste.
- Promote recycling, composting, and the reduction of single-use plastics through public awareness and incentives.
- Expand community sanitation programs, street cleaning, and desilting of drainage systems to prevent flooding and disease.
- Strengthen environmental regulations and enforcement to deter littering and improper waste handling.
- Invest in public infrastructure that supports cleanliness, such as accessible waste bins, sanitation facilities, and wastewater treatment where feasible.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Government: Develop clear policies, provide funding for sanitation projects, and streamline approvals for waste management initiatives.
- Businesses: Adopt sustainable practices, reduce waste generation, and support community clean-up efforts through corporate social responsibility programs.
- Communities: Organize regular cleanup drives, educate neighbors on proper waste disposal, and participate in local decision-making for environmental improvements.
- Individuals: Practice responsible waste separation, reuse where possible, and dispose of trash in designated containers.
Best Practices for Everyday Cleanliness
- Carry a reusable bag for shopping and reduce reliance on disposable plastics.
- Separate waste at the source into recyclables, organics, and general waste.
- Report blocked drains, illegal dumping, or littered public spaces to relevant authorities promptly.
- Support local clean-up events and volunteer your time to community projects.
- Maintain personal and public spaces by tidying streets, markets, and shared facilities.
Partnerships and Initiatives
- Public–private partnerships to fund sanitation infrastructure and maintenance.
- Community-based organizations that coordinate neighborhood clean-ups and environmental education.
- National campaigns that raise awareness about hygiene practices, littering consequences, and the importance of a clean environment for public health.
